As a military momma getting ready to deploy- I still haven’t been able to read the whole thing without crying. This book is great.

I found this book to be very informative, and helpful in understanding our troops commitment. The colorful illustration make this book very inviting for children as well as adults.

This is a touching conversation between a mother and child, one that until just a few years ago would never have taken place. In today’s military wives and husbands and in many cases both find themselves being deployed, away from their children.

As adults we honestly have emotional issues with separation, it is almost impossible for us to understand the frustration, fear and anxiety a child goes through as to his/her family being torn apart, the parent or parents are suddenly gone from their life.

Thankfully more attention is being given to what happens to children in these situations and Ms. Linhart has written an excellent book I recommend for young children and their parents to share to help prepare them for the mental onslaught they will feel.

In sharing this book and others she has written to help in these situations the child, parent and the military will benefit. Distracted soldiers are poor soldiers, removing or coming to a better understanding will assist the mental preparedness of front line soldiers.

Bright, colorful illustrations and bold, easy-to-read print make this book an excellent resource for families whose moms are enlisted with our American military and are preparing to deploy somewhere in the world. Great insight into the sacrifices made not just by our service personnel, but the littlest members of their families as well. Momma’s Boots is a wonderful resource for helping children better understand why Momma’s duty as an American soldier sometimes requires her to leave her loved ones behind. This was an absolutely adorable book that I gave to a child who has a mom in the Army. It’s hard to find books for children in the military with a mom being the service member and this was perfect. Thank you

Great for Soldier moms 💪

This is a wonderful book with great illustrations. It speaks to the child in a special way, in a way the child can relate to. So this addresses a very real possibility that many adult may not realize. What if the memory becomes dim when the parent is away for a long period of time… and to a child it would seem to be a very long time. Many a child will benefit from hearing this story told so beautifully.

Ms. Linhart places a conversation before us between a grandfather and his grandchild about Mom coming back home. Separation does not mean the same to adults as it does to children they lack the experience and knowledge to help deal with the trauma, and it is traumatic to them. Reading this story you can feel the fear within this child, the concerns over the unknowns a reunion present.

This is one of four books Ms. Linhart has written dealing with these issues and should be a must read for military families. Individual beliefs in their coping skills are not enough when it comes to children this book and the others will turn a bright light on the issue and go a long way toward limiting the damage separation causes.

Taking the time to talk out these issues with your children now will not only prepare them, it will prepare you and your family, a win-win situation I hope more emphasis is placed on in the military.
