This work is an historical genealogy of five families who fled Europe in the eighteenth century. It chronicles four centuries of their generations’ journeys across the British Colonial frontier and early United States. Their migration culminated in the settlement and development of northeast Alabama. The original target audience was to be the extended family of the pioneers who melded into one family: the Forneys.
However, this work is not just an effort to record family lineage with line and block charts. The historical context of the times gives life to the struggles and depredations of each family that is representative of all Americans. It records history of the formation of the country, with emphasis on the development and settlement of states of Virginia, Pennsylvania, North and South Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama.
